Tyson is turning into quite the little chatterbox. Every word that escapes our mouths comes right out of his, and for the most part that is okay. It's fun to listen to him talk away, just like a little boy, but a strange thing has crept in. Let me give some back history.
When my Mom was down visiting, we were teaching Tyson to call her GJ, short for Grandma Jewels (her name is Julie). He got the message, and still calls her that, but also got a little confused. He started calling her "Mom" too. I have no problem with that, and since that's what everyone else called her, it made sense. He knew she would answer to both names.
You might have guessed what Tyson is calling me now.
"Jess".
Yes, it's "Jess, watch me", and "Jess, I need milk" etc. He runs through the house yelling "Jess, Jess, Jess". I seriously have a hard time not responding to it. Have you tried not to respond when your name is called? It's tough.
He still calls me Mom. When he is sad, or is saying goodbye, or something like that. So that's good. I figure this is something that is just going to pass, but it is so weird to hear my little two-year old say my name. I told him the other day, that my name is reserved for Daddy, my family, and my friends. Only they could call me Jess. I told him that we weren't going to be "friends" like that ever, so he better get used to just calling me Mom. Tyson just grinned, threw his truck against the couch and ran away reciting "Jess, Jess, Jess"......

Yesterday Lily heard someone call me Allie, then put a really funny-sneaky-sly-little look on her face and asked me, "What you think, Aaaaaallie?"
I love that she thinks she's so funny about it too. Usually she only uses our names when we're the ones being silly and ask her to clarify. Which Mom? MY mom? Hanna's mom? Dad's mom? Cartoon mom? ...and she has to say "no! Allie Mom!"
Grandma names are even better. We've got Grandma (aka Hanna Red Mountain Grandma), Grandma Cat (because she has 2), Old Grandma (or Grandma Pilch....because I don't think she knows my mom is also Grandma Pilch), Grandma Hoots (or sometimes New Grandma Hoots), Old Grandma Hoots, Grandma Salt Lake and that other one. Sorry, that other one.
That's too funny. He's one smart kiddo, that's for sure to pick up on that.
I would laugh so hard if Peter started calling me Eliza.
Okay - so cute! And funny! I can't believe how much he has changed since I moved away! Oh i miss and love all you guys!

P.S. so, when are you going to start coaching him on my name? ;)
I completely understand what you mean. Although the best that Kyle and I have witnessed with Kinlee is when I call Kyle "Honey" If she is around and listening then he is now honey for the next little while! Good luck breaking the trend and have a great 4th!
SO ADORABLE! If you can remember your name was one of Cael's first words... i guess it's just one of those things!
That is so hilarious and way too cute! It is kind of weird when your kids call you by your first name, I put a stop to it with Kennedy, but she was older and could understand...good luck. The last part had me laughin' good!
