it looks like we have another bookworm in the house
A couple of months ago, after the transition from crib to "new bed", Tyson inserted a new item into the nightly routine. We did all the usual; have a bath, put on jim jams, brush teeth, read stories/sing songs, family prayer. After we had tucked him in for the night, perhaps 10 minutes later, I noticed that Tys had turned the light back on. He had made no sounds to alert me. In fact he was quiet as a mouse. No toy playing, no jumping, no typical Tyson silliness. Set on stopping this occurrence from ever happening again, I prepared myself to be stern and opened the bedroom door. What I saw stopped me in my tracks and melted my little book loving heart on the spot. Tyson was surrounded by books. They were all over the bed, on the floor, and he looked up at me with the sweetest smile and said "I'm reading Mom". I told him he could read for a few more minutes, turned on the lamp, and later put him down for the night. This has happened every night since then. He reads quietly and goes to bed without a fuss. I love it. I can empathize with him having myself spent many a night reading into the wee hours. I hope he always is filled with the insatiable desire to lose himself in the written word. So many adventures, love stories, and truths await him in books.

Aw, he melts my heart. I have never been able to understand those who don't love to read...I'm glad he's found a love for books at such a sweet young age!
