Europe: Day 12 Germany

Today was the first day in a long time that we truly slept in.  It felt wonderful.  It felt good to take a leisurely shower and get my clothes in order.  We had done a load of laundry when we arrived and we did one more today as well.  I sorted through our souvenirs and packed them into boxes to ship home.  Later that morning, Becky took us to a few stores to find some things we had been looking for.  We found a large "stein" that had the names of many of the German cities we had been to.  We also bought lots of chocolate, candies, and some cereals to ship home.  It was fun to shop where Becky does and get a feel for how her life is.

This is the main town square.  Isn't it charming?

Becky took us to a few different little towns to check out their shops.  It was so fun to browse through the normal everyday German things.

On our way home, we picked up some yummy pastries to snack on.

Originally we had planned on catching the train and riding to Fussen, which is in the corner of Germany close to Austria and Switzerland.  But Ben and Becky decided to come with us instead!  So, we helped them pack, and later in the evening all set off together.  The ride was very enjoyable, very smooth and speedy, except for one little mishap which I am sure will be a great family story told for many years to come.  :)

As we travelled further south, the terrain got more hilly and mountains began to pop up in the distance. We reach Fussen by about 9:30 and they dropped us off at our little Hostel L.A. before going to their hotel.

Our room was in the loft of the house-- a private room connected to a larger dorm room.  It was small, but just fine for the night.  We tried to face-time with my family, but the connection was too poor in that part of the house.  So off to sleep instead.
